About Us

Marty Gane has over 28 years of experience designing and operating study tours in the U.S. and abroad for the membership of some of the nation's most prestigious museums, educational and cultural organizations. A native Washingtonian and Greek Classics major at the University of Virginia, Marty discovered the perfect career that combines her skills in research, writing, travel and photography. Her forte is her breadth of knowledge, her ability to assimilate information and get to the essence of her destinations, to understand what her audience wants in their tours, and then to weave her creative vision into an enticing travel program.

Over the years she has designed learning vacations and led educational groups to many corners of the world-- from the Himalayas to the Great Barrier Reef; from the archaeological wonders of Greece and Egypt to the Anazasi ruins of the American Southwest. In addition to numerous tours focusing on the American Civil War, Marty has designed special itineraries including an Atlantic crossing aboard a tall ship commemorating the 500th anniversary of Columbus' 1492 voyage, a 7-day "university at sea" cruising the Aegean Islands in partnership with Oxford University, and week-long programs studying the Battle of Britain and the Attack on Pearl Harbor to name just a few.  A civil war buff, Marty and her black Lab, Jack, reside in the shadow of South Mountain just down the road from Antietam Battlefield.
